Caregiver

Caregiver

Caregiver program in Canada allows caregivers from other countries to work in Canada as a caregiver. After two years of acquiring Canadian work experience, one can apply for permanent residence through this program.

Any Canadian citizen can employ a foreign national as a caregiver or nanny for older persons, children, or disabled persons.  There are two immigration options in operation for Caregivers looking to migrate to Canada. The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Workers. These two pilot programs were launched in 2019 following the closure of the Interim Pathway for Caregivers. In the past, it was necessary for the caregivers to live with the sponsoring family. This is no longer required.

The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Workers Programs

You may be able to apply for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Workers if you:

  • Meet the eligibility requirements
  • Have a job offer to work in one of these occupations

Through these programs you will get an open work permit to come to Canada and work temporarily.
